A 41 year old Hobart man was today charged at the Hobart Police Station with one count of armed robbery.

“The charge has resulted after thorough investigations by Hobart CIB Detectives following the armed robbery at the Lenah Valley Food Market in Augusta Road, Lenah Valley, on Monday 9September 2013.  During the incident the shop keeper was confronted with a man holding a knife who demanded money,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Joel.

“Incidents like this create fear in the community and police will continue to dedicate all resources into resolving these crimes, charging those reponsible and allaying community fears,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Joel.

“Tasmania Police would like to thank the local community for their assistance in providing information which helped find the offender,” he said.

The man has been bailed to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court at a later date.
