Police are warning the community to be on the lookout for counterfeit money circulating in the St George Area.

Detectives from St George Local Area Command are conducting investigations after thousands of dollars of counterfeit notes were passed at businesses in the area, including a betting outlet in Bexley North, a hotel in Bexley, a club in Kogarah and a hotel in Allawah.

Police are continuing their investigations to identify those responsible for passing and making the counterfeit $50 and $100 notes.

They are also warning business owners and the community to be on the lookout for fake $100 notes using the serial numbers BK 08689143 and FA 96403514.

People should also be on the lookout for counterfeit $50 notes using the serial number GG 08245068. Anyone who is handed one of these notes is asked to contact police immediately.
