Police have charged a 30-year-old Gympie man following the armed robbery of a liquor store in Bray Park this afternoon.

At around 4.20pm a man entered the Kensington Way shop, where he allegedly smashed a glass bottle and used it to threaten the male attendant while making demands for cash.

Police attended while the man was still in the shop and he was subsequently arrested.

The man has been charged with one count of armed robbery and will appear in the Pine River Magistrates Court on January 6.
