Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred in Palm Beach overnight.
A man has entered a fish and chip shop on Seventh Avenue around 9pm and has approached staff and demanded money.
The attendant has refused, and the man has then assaulted the 55-year-old woman with a metal pipe.
The woman suffered lacerations and bruising, a broken collar bone, broken arm and an injury to her back and was taken to the Gold Coast University for treatment.
The man has then left the scene in an unknown direction.
The man is described as being around 180cms tall and has his face covered.
