Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred in Coolangatta last night.

Two men ran through the front door of a sports club on Appel Street around 10pm. One man was armed with a firearm and the other held a hammer. The men approached workers and told a woman who was a patron to get onto the floor.

The men then ordered a staff member into an office area where they demanded money.

One man was described as being Pacific Islander in appearance, approximately 175cm tall, aged in his late 20’s to early 30’s, stocky build and wearing a red hooded jumper and dark pants.

The second man is described as medium build, around 160cm tall, aged in his late 20’s, wearing a dark grey jumper and also described as Pacific Islander appearance.

The men stole cash and then left in a silver dual cab utility which was last seen being driven on Miles Street.

No one sustained physical injury during the robbery. Investigations are continuing.
