Police are appealing for public assistance following the armed robbery of a newsagency at Little Bay.

Just before 1pm yesterday (Wednesday 22 January 2014), police were called to the shop on Anzac Parade, following reports of an armed robbery.

Officers have been told a man entered the store and threatened the male attendant with a knife.

He fled the scene a short time later on foot with an amount of cash.

No one was injured during the incident.

Police from Eastern Beaches Local Area Command attended and launched an investigation.

Specialist officers from the Dog Unit also assisted local police with an extensive search of the surrounding area; however the man was not located.

Inquiries into the matter are continuing and detectives from Eastern Beaches Local Area Command would like to speak to a man described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged 35-40, about 168-173cm tall, who was wearing a blue hooded jumper, dark jeans and black and white runners at the time.
