7 February 2014 – Shot Fired – Attempted ATM Theft – Newsagency – Cooranbong

A shot has been fired during the attempted theft of an ATM in the Lake Macquarie area this morning.
Four men were seen attempting to steal the ATM from a newsagency in Freemans Drive, Cooranbong, about 4.20am today (Friday 7 February 2014).
When a passerby stopped his car near the men’s 4WD, the men returned to their vehicle and drove away, firing a shot which struck the bonnet of the man’s car.
Police were alerted and a crime scene was established. The ATM was not taken.
