Police are investigating after a convenience store in East Ipswich was robbed yesterday.

Initial investigations indicate that around 8.30pm a man entered the store on Jacaranda Street, where he approached the female attendant armed with a knife and made demands for cash and cigarettes.

The man left the store with money and cigarettes, heading across Jacaranda Street where he jumped a fence and was last seen running across sporting fields towards Joyce Street.

At the time he was wearing blue tracksuit pants and a white hooded shirt with a white scarf covered his face.

The woman was not injured. Police investigations are continuing.
