A man has been charged over the attempted armed robbery of a store at Mount Pritchard, in Sydney’s west.
Police were called to a mixed business on Hemphill Road just before 7pm yesterday (Monday 10 March 2014), responding to reports a man had entered the store armed with a firearm.
The store’s owners, a 69-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman, managed to chase the man out of the store and he fled empty-handed.
Officers from Cabramatta Local Area Command attended and conducted a search of the surrounding area.
A 25-year-old man was arrested nearby and taken to Cabramatta Police Station where he was charged with armed robbery with an offensive weapon.
The local man has been bail refused to appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Tuesday 11 March 2014).
