Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding an armed robbery which occurred at a supermarket in Bayswater North earlier last week.

Detectives from Maroondah Crime Investigation Unit have been told that two men entered the supermarket at the intersection of Canterbury and Colchester Roads around 1.25am on Tuesday 11 March.

The men approached the service counter, threatened staff with a loaded spear gun and machete and demanded cash and cigarettes.

One of the men jumped the counter and stole the cigarettes and cash.

One of the offenders is described as 190cm tall, slim build and was wearing a dark coloured hoodie, jeans and a light green ninja mask.

The other man is described as 185cm tall, slim build and was wearing a white hoodie, dark pants and white face mask.

Investigators believe that the duo may have left in a stolen silver Holden Commodore, registration BIN 106, which was stolen from Boronia prior to the robbery.

Police have released images and CCTV of two men that they believe may be able to assist with our enquires.
