Police are investigating an aggravated robbery at a service station on Main North Road at Hillbank overnight.

Just after 4.30am, a man entered the store armed with a piece of wood, jumped the counter and demanded cash.

A small amount of cash was handed over and he fled on foot. No one was injured.

He was last seen heading in a westerly direction across Main North Road and into a reserve.

Police set up cordons and a police dog patrol attended. A track was located but was lost in a reserve.

The suspect is described as early 20s, with a slim build, about 178cm tall. He was wearing a long sleeved florescent yellow top, a baseball cap, hood and sunglasses.
