Police have charged a man over the alleged attempted armed robbery of a hotel at Granville overnight.
About 2.30am today (Tuesday 8 April 2014), a man entered the hotel on Woodville Road allegedly armed with a firearm.
Police have been told the man confronted two employees – women aged 19 and 49 – and demanded money.
They fled and alerted security guards before the armed man ran from the hotel empty-handed.
He was last seen being driven from the scene in a white Toyota Camry sedan.
Police were alerted and a description of the car was broadcast.
A short time later police stopped a vehicle in a car park on Manchester Street at Merrylands and arrested four men. Police also seized a .22 calibre handgun nearby.
The men were taken to Merrylands Police Station.
One of the men, aged 29, was charged with robbery armed with a dangerous weapon and firearm offences.
He has been refused bail and will appear at Fairfield Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 9 April 2014).
The other three men have been released pending further investigations.
