Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward following the armed robbery of a supermarket in Sydney’s west yesterday.
About 7.50pm (Saturday 26 April 2014), a male staff member was in the process of closing a shop on Fitzwilliam Road, Old Toongabbie, when a man entered the store armed with a knife.
The man threatened the attendant and left a short time later with cash from the till.
No one was injured.
Police were notified approximately 40 minutes later and attended, establishing a crime scene that was examined by forensic specialists.
Detectives from Parramatta Local Area Command are investigating and would like to speak to a man described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his late 30s, unshaven, wearing a black and red jersey, grey tracksuit pants, a red beanie and no shoes.
Officers have also been told a number of people witnessed the incident but left prior to police being notified.
Any witnesses, or anyone with information about the robbery, are urged to contact police.
