Police are conducting investigations after shots were fired during an attempted armed robbery at licensed premises in Port Macquarie last night.
About 11:50pm, Wednesday 30 April 2014, three men approached the front doors of the licensed premises on Ocean Drive.
The hotel was closed at the time with three staff members locked inside and preparing to leave for the night.
Police have been told the men attempted to open the glass front doors before firing a number of shots into the premises and gaining entry.
The staff members hid in another room while the men, who were armed with a rifle and a jemmy bar, walked through the premises before leaving empty-handed.
No one was injured during the incident and police were called to the premises where they established a crime scene which was examined by specialist forensic officers.
Detectives from Mid North Coast Local Area Command are continuing investigations into the attempted robbery and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
The three men have only been described as having their hands and faces covered and they are believed to have fled the scene through the car park into nearby scrub land.
