Police are appealing for witnesses after an armed robbery of a bottle store near Wollongong, last night.

About 8.20pm (Monday 12 May 2014), two attendants a 43-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were at the counter of a bottle store on Popes Road, Woonona, when two people approached the counter with their faces covered.

The people threatened the attendants with a large knife demanding money, they complied and handed over a sum of cash.

The people then fled on foot with the cash.

Police were contacted and Wollongong Local Area Command and specialist forensic officers attended the location commencing an investigation.

No one was injured as a result of the incident.

One person was described to officers as Caucasian appearance, aged in the 20’s, wearing black jeans and a dark hooded jumper.

The other was described as wearing a blue jumper and blue jeans.

Investigators are appealing for anyone with any information surrounding the incident to contact the authorities.
