Police from St George Local Area Command are investigating an armed robbery at a hotel in Mortdale tonight.

About 11.10pm (Monday 2 June, 2014), two men entered the hotel on Pitt Street armed with a firearm and a machete.

One of the men approached a female staff member who was serving behind the bar and threatened her with the firearm while demanding cash from the till.

The second man, who was armed with the machete, approached the manager of the hotel and demanded cash from the safe.

Both staff members complied with their demands and handed over an amount of cash.

The two men ran from the hotel and were seen getting into a black Toyota RAV 4 that was last seen heading towards Boundary Road.

The two staff members and a number of patrons that were inside the hotel at the time of the robbery were not hurt, and police are now seeking information that may assist with their investigation.
