Detectives from Box Hill Embona Taskforce are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery at a supermarket in Mount Waverley this morning.

Police have been told two men armed with a baseball bat and machete entered the supermarket on Blackburn Road just before 6.30am.

The pair approached staff and made threats to hand over cash.

The cashier handed over a quantity of cash and the men fled the scene in a waiting vehicle which was last seen heading west on Centreway.

The offenders had their faces covered at the time of the incident and one man is believed to be wearing a black and red lumber jacket.
