Police have charged two men following an armed robbery that occurred earlier this morning at Hope Island.

A man entered a service station on Broadwater Avenue around 12.40am and police will allege he jumped the counter, threatened the attendant with what appeared to be a firearm and made demands for cash.

The attendant has complied following a short struggle with the man. The man then fled the scene with another man who was waiting outside the business.

Police located and took two men into custody a short time later.

The attendant didn’t suffer any physical injuries as a result of the robbery.

Police have charged a 20-year-old Murrumba Downs man and a 19-year-old Willow Vale man with one count each of armed robbery.

The 20-year-old is due to face the Southport Magistrates Court today, and the 19-year-old is expected to appear on June 16.
