Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery in Canley Heights overnight.

About 9.40pm (Sunday 15 June 2014) four men were closing a takeaway shop, which included food preparation for the following day.

Two men have entered the store, wearing all black with face coverings, and demanded cash. One of the men was carrying a newspaper and told the group he had a weapon inside.

Two of the men have come from the rear of the store, carrying knives they were using to prepare food. The offenders, seeing the armed employees, ran from the store empty handed.

Police attended and a crime scene was established. Inquiries into the attempted robbery are continuing.
