Police have released images of a man who may be able to assist with inquiries following an attempted armed robbery in Woonona last week.

About 8pm (Monday 30 June 2014), a man entered a service station on the Princes Highway and requested assistance from a 22-year-old male attendant.

The man seeking assistance then allegedly tried to take a knife from his jacket, before running from the store.

The station attendant contacted police, who attended and established a crime scene.

As they continue their investigations, detectives attached to Wollongong Local Area Command have released CCTV images of a man they believe may be able to assist with inquiries.

The man depicted in the images is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 40-50 years old, of thin build, with fair skin and a bald head.

He is pictured wearing black sunglasses, a blue hooded jacket with a thick grey zip-up jacket on the top, black tracksuit pants with a white logo down each leg, white running shoes and black gloves.
