Police are investigating an armed robbery at Smithfield, in Sydney’s west.

Just after 7pm yesterday (Saturday 5 July 2014), a man entered a service station at the corner of The Horsley Drive and The Cumberland Highway armed with a knife.

The man, who had his face concealed, approached the 31-year-old attendant and demanded money.

He fled with a small sum of cash and police were alerted.

Officers from Fairfield Local Area Command attended and commenced inquiries.

Police are appealing for public assistance in an attempt to identify and locate the man involved.

He’s described as being approximately 173cm tall and with medium to solid build.

Police are also investigating links between another armed robbery at the same location last week.
