On Saturday 5 July 2014 at approximately 6:30pm a pizza delivery driver was struck by a man wielding a weapon while making deliveries in the Romney Street Riverside area.

The driver attended a nearby business and contacted police. Uniformed officers and Detectives attended the area. During subsequent searches Police located and arrested a 17 year old male youth at a nearby residence.

The youth has been charged with Armed Robbery and appeared before an out of hours court sitting at the Launceston Magistrates Court (Youth Justice Division).

The pizza delivery driver sustained minor injuries, and was discharged from the Launceston General Hospital.
