A man will appear in court next month after police charged him in relation to an armed robbery in Sydney’s west.
About 3.30pm yesterday (Thursday 17 July 2014), a man allegedly entered a money-lending shop on Main Street, Blacktown.
Once inside, the man allegedly threatened two female staff members with a firearm before demanding money.
No shots were fired and there were no injuries as a result of the incident.
The man fled from the location, but was chased by police and stopped on Blacktown Road.
He was searched and a firearm and cash was allegedly located in his backpack.
The 58-year-old man was subsequently arrested and taken to Blacktown Police Station where he was charged with robbery whilst armed with an offensive weapon.
He was granted conditional bail to appear in Blacktown Local Court on Tuesday 6 August 2014.
