A man will front court today charged when his car broke down after he allegedly robbed a shop at Liverpool yesterday.
About 5pm (Tuesday 22 July 2014) a 33-year-old man walked into an electronics store on Orange Grove Road.
Police will allege he took a computer hard drive and portable speakers from the store and loaded them into his car, before returning to the shop.
It’s further alleged the man cut the security cables attached to two iPads and took them, running from the store.
When an employee gave chase, police have been told the armed man pointed the scissors toward him, causing the employee to stop following him.
The man got into his car and left the scene, clipping another employee with his side mirror as he drove off.
No one was injured in the incident.
As the man drove down Orange Grove Road, his vehicle broke down, and he walked away leaving his car on the side of the road.
Police from Liverpool Local Area Command were called and located the man’s vehicle a short time later.
While officers were guarding the man’s broken down vehicle, he returned to the car and was arrested, allegedly in possession of the stolen items.
He was taken to Liverpool Police Station where he was charged with robbery whilst armed.
The man was refused bail and will appear in Liverpool Local Court today (Wednesday 23 July 2014).
