Elizabeth Police investigating an aggravated robbery at an Elizabeth Downs supermarket this afternoon. At about 1.30pm, a man armed with a screwdriver threatened staff at the IGA on Hamblynn Road, Elizabeth Downs and made off with an amount of cash. No one was injured during the robbery. The suspect is described as a man of Aboriginal appearance, aged in his mid 20s, about 175cm tall, with a slim build and wearing black clothing and white sneakers. A witness reported seeing him leave in a stolen maroon Nissan Skyline which was then spotted by a patrol a short time later on Counter Road, Elizabeth Downs. A pursuit ensued and the vehicle was dumped on Frost Road, Salisbury North. A black Nissan Stagea wagon was later used by the suspect to drive away from the area, but this vehicle was later found abandoned on Brown Terrace at Brahma Lodge.
