Police are appealing for witnesses after an attempted armed robbery at a hotel in Rockdale on Saturday.

About 6am (Saturday 26 July 2014), two men have approached the rear door of a hotel on Princes Highway, Rockdale.

Using a sledge hammer, they smashed the rear door and entered the hotel.

Both men, one carrying a firearm, searched the hotel and then left empty handed.

No one was in the hotel at the time and nobody was injured.

Police were called and St George Local Area Command attended commencing an investigation.

Officers would like to speak to two men that were driving a silver Audi 4WD, who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

One man was described as wearing a grey hooded jumper and black pants.

The second man was described as wearing a white hooded jumper, blue/green shirt, dark pants with a large red stripe down the legs and white sneakers.

Investigators urge any witnesses that may have been in the area at the time or have any information about the incident to call Crime Stoppers.
