Police are appealing for witnesses after an armed robbery at a newsagency in St Georges Basin, on the state’s south coast, yesterday.
Just before 6am (Thursday 7 August 2014), a 61-year-old woman was working in a newsagency on Island Point Road, when two men entered the store with their faces covered.
The men threatened the attendant with a firearm and took cash.
They then fled on foot and were last seen running in a north-easterly direction.
Police were contacted and officers from Shoalhaven Local Area Command attended commencing an investigation and establishing a crime scene.
The shop attendant was not injured during the incident.
Investigators would like to speak to two men that may be able to assist with inquiries.
They are both described as having a thin to medium build, about 175cm tall, possibly aged in their early 20s and were wearing hooded jumpers – one grey and one dark blue.
Police would also like to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of the newsagency at the time of the robbery.
