Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was hit to the head with a glass at a St Kilda bar on Sunday morning.

Police have been told a man was at a bar on Acland Street celebrating a friend’s birthday just after 2am.

It is believed the man was with friends on the dance floor when he was involved in an altercation with another man.

A fight broke out between the two men and the victim was hit with a glass.

He received two lacerations to the head and other facial injuries.

The men were pulled apart by security and the offender was last seen walking north along Barkly Street towards Carlisle Street.

The offender is perceived to be of Southern European appearance, approximately 165cm to 175cm tall and unshaven.

He was wearing a white singlet, black shirt and dark coloured jeans.

St Kilda Crime Investigation Unit detectives have released footage and images in the hope that some one may be able to assist in identifying the man.
