A man has been charged over the alleged armed robbery of a taxi driver in Wagga last weekend.

At 12.45am, Saturday 16 August 2014, a 52-year-old taxi driver responded to a job at a house in Crawford Street, Ashmont.

On arrival a man was seen sitting on a chair in the front of the vacant house. He allegedly walked to the car door and held a knife to the taxi driver, demanding money.

The driver complied and the man allegedly took the cash and ran from the scene.

At 9am yesterday (Thursday 21 August 2014) Wagga Wagga detectives executed search warrants at two homes in Ashmont.

At 12.30pm yesterday (Thursday 21 August 2014) a 21-year-old man attended Wagga Wagga Police Station and was charged with robbery whilst armed with offensive weapon.

He was granted conditional bail to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court Wednesday 8 October, 2014.
