Police are investigating after a man armed with a firearm robbed a convenience store in Brisbane City this afternoon.

Around 5.10pm a man entered the Edward Street business and produced a firearm demanding access to the cash register.

The man took cash from the till before leaving the store.

The 22-year-old male attendant was not physically harmed.

The man is described as Caucasian, 165cm tall and of average build. He was wearing dark clothing and was carrying a black backpack.
