Wollongong police are appealing for information from the public to locate two people following an armed robbery at a post office.

Just after 3.30pm a man and woman armed with a firearm entered the post office in Gipps Road Keiraville.

The assistant was able to run to a rear office while a customer was prevented from leaving by the female offender.

The man then jumped the counter and removed a cash from a drawer and they both left the post office and left in a car which travelled west in Gipps Road.

The car is described as being a silver Holden Astra bearing NSW registration plates.

The man has been described to police as being Caucasian appearance, about 30 old, medium build, short dark shaved hair. He was wearing sunglasses, a maroon hooded jumper, grey track pants, a black bumbag and white runners.

The female is described as being Caucasian appearance, about 18-25 old, chubby build, wearing a maroon beanie, dark glasses and a maroon tracksuit.

No one was injured during the incident.

Investigations are continuing.
