Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery of a hotel in Cunnamulla overnight.

Initial investigations suggest around 8.30pm, a man armed with a knife entered the bottle shop section of a hotel on Louise Street and demanded money from the female attendant.

When the attendant was unable to open the cash register the man attempted to take a charity donation tin that was chained to the front counter. The man then ran from the hotel without the tin or any cash.

No one was physically injured as a result of the incident.

The man is described as being around 180cm tall, with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a black hooded jumper and a bandana concealing his face.

Investigations are continuing.
