Police have charged an 18-year-old man with armed robbery in relation to the alleged robbery of a jewellery store at Burleigh Heads on August 21, 2014.

It will be alleged the man entered the store on Classic Way and tried on a gold bracelet before fleeing the shop on foot with the bracelet.

It will be further alleged a shop assistant chased the man to a vehicle waiting nearby, being driven by a second man and whilst driving away, the sedan struck the woman.

The 18-year-old Tweed Heads West man was charged with one count each of armed robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle and is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today.

Investigations into the robbery continue.
