Police in the state’s Lake Illawarra region are investigating the armed robbery of a bowling club at Gerringong.

Just before 10.30pm yesterday (Monday 6 October 2014), three men forced entry to a club on Pacific Drive by smashing through the glass doors.

The club had just closed and three employees were counting the day’s takings.

The men, who had their faces concealed and were armed with rifles, stole money from the register before fleeing.

The employees – two women aged 33 and 23 and a 19-year-old man – managed to lock themselves in a back office and call police.

No one was injured.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

A search of the area was conducted with assistance from the Dog Unit; however, the offenders were not located.

An investigation is underway in an attempt to identify and locate those involved.
