Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery at a supermarket in Parramatta today.

Just before 2.30pm (Wednesday 8 October 2014), a man was working in a supermarket on Victoria Road when he was approached by a man armed with a syringe, who threatened him and demanded money.

When the employee attempted to contact police, the armed man fled the scene empty handed.

The employee was uninjured during the incident and contacted emergency services.

Officers attached to Rosehill Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

As police continue to investigate the incident, they would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist them with their inquiries.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 35-years-old and with a ‘scruffy’ appearance.

The man was seen wearing a plain white hooded jumper pulled over his head, and black pants.

Anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area at the time of the incident, or who has any information, is urged to come forward and contact police.
