A man has been charged over the alleged armed robbery of a service station in Tamworth earlier in the week.
About 8:50pm on Friday 10 October 2014, a man entered the service station on Armidale Road and allegedly threatened a 39-year-old woman with a knife.
He demanded cash and cigarettes and was handed money from the register, however, a customer entered the service station during the robbery.
Upon seeing the armed man the customer ran off before the man fled the scene. No one was injured during the robbery.
Police from Oxley Local Area Command were called to the service station and established a crime scene which was examined by forensic officers.
Detectives conducted investigations and yesterday (Saturday 11 October 2014), arrested a 42-year-old man at a house in Tamworth.
He was taken to the local police station where he was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon and refused bail to appear in Tamworth Bail Court today (Sunday 12 October 2014).
