Police are investigating the armed robbery of a hotel at Waitara yesterday.
About 3pm, Monday 20 October 2014, two men entered the hotel on the Pacific Highway and approached a woman working in the poker machine room.
The men allegedly showed her a handgun and demanded cash. They were handed money and fled the scene.
A witness followed them down Unwin Road towards Clarke Road where he was also threatened with the firearm and the men managed to make good their escape.
Police were called to the hotel and established a crime scene which was examined by specialist forensic officers.
Detectives from Kuring-Gai Local Area Command and the Metropolitan Robbery Unit are conducting investigations into the robbery and looking for the two men.
The first man is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, about 180cm tall with a solid build, dark eyebrows and eyes. He was wearing a dark cap, a fluorescent yellow shirt with a black long-sleeve jumper underneath, dark pants and white joggers.
The second man is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, about 175cm tall with a medium build and facial stubble. He was wearing a dark cap, a black jacket, an orange fluorescent shirt, dark shorts and white shoes.
