Two men have been arrested following an armed robbery at a bowling club at Belfield in Sydney’s south-west today.
About 1:15pm, Wednesday 12 November 2014, police were called to a bowling club on Margaret Street, following reports of an armed robbery.
It is believed two men wearing balaclavas entered the premises and threatened staff with shotguns. No shots were fired during the robbery and the men fled the scene in a white ute.
Police from Campsie Local Area Command responded to the scene and saw the ute in the vicinity of Lakemba Street. They attempted to stop it, however, it fled the area.
A short time later police located the ute unattended and on fire in Wangee Road at Greenacre.
A man was arrested nearby while police established a perimeter and conducted a search of the area with the assistance of the Dog Unit and Polair
About 1:50pm, the second man was located in the yard of a house on Wangee Road. Both men, believed to be aged in their 20s, have been arrested and taken to Campsie Police Station.
Police have established crime scenes at the club and the car with two shotguns located inside the vehicle. Investigations into the armed robbery are continuing.
