Two men have been charged following an armed robbery at a bowling club at Belfield in Sydney’s south-west yesterday.
About 1:15pm, Wednesday 12 November 2014, police were called to a bowling club on Margaret Street, following reports of an armed robbery.
Two men entered the premises and threatened staff with a shotgun. No shots were fired during the robbery and the men fled the scene in a white utility, empty handed.
Police from Campsie Local Area Command responded to the scene and located the ute unattended and on fire in Wangee Road at Greenacre.
A man was arrested nearby while police established a perimeter and conducted a search of the area with the assistance of the Dog Unit and Polair.
About 1:50pm, the second man was located in the yard of a house on Wangee Road. Both men were taken to Campsie Police Station.
Police later charged a 29-year-old man with robbery in company while armed with a dangerous weapon, possess loaded firearm in public place and take and drive conveyance without the consent of the owner.
A 24-year-old man was charged with robbery in company while armed with a dangerous weapon, be carried in a conveyance without consent of the owner and two outstanding warrants.
Both men were refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today.
