Police are investigating the armed robbery of a convenience store at Surry Hills overnight.

About 8.15pm (Sunday 14 December 2014), a man entered the store on Elizabeth Street with his face concealed and armed with a firearm.

The man approached the attendant, a 43-year-old man, and demanded cash.

He fled empty-handed after the attendant’s wife entered the store.

Police were alerted and officers from Surry Hills Local Area Command attended and conducted a canvass of the area.

An investigation is underway in an attempt to identify and locate the man involved.

He’s only described as being approximately 170cm tall and with a medium build.
