A man will front court today charged by police investigating four gunpoint robberies in Sydney this month.
Just after 9.30pm on Wednesday 3 December, a man was robbed after withdrawing money at an ATM on Rochford Street, Erskineville.
t’s alleged he was approached by a man who produced a gun and made off with his wallet.
Between 5pm and 6pm on Thursday 11 December 2014, a shoe store in Alexandria, a delicatessen in Erskineville, and a fish and chip shop in Erskineville were held up at gunpoint.
Cash was taken from the shoe store, but no proceeds were obtained from the other two shops.
No one was injured in the four incidents.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Robbery Unit formed Strike Force Wirrila to investigate the robberies.
As a result of inquiries, about 9.30am yesterday (Wednesday 17 December 2014), a 57-year-old man was arrested at Waterloo.
He was taken to Redfern Police Station and charged with two counts of assault with intent to rob while armed with a dangerous weapon, robbery whilst armed with a dangerous weapon and breach of bail.
The man was refused bail to appear before Central Local Court today (Thursday 18 December 2014).
