Two teenage girls have been charged following an armed robbery in Moree yesterday.

About 3.40pm (Tuesday 23 December 2014), police were told two teens entered an auto parts store on Heber Street.

Police will allege a 17-year-old girl was armed with a metal pole and a knife and a 14-year-old girl was also armed with a knife.

The 17-year-old girl has allegedly walked behind the cashier’s desk and threatened a staff member with the knife, demanding cash.

The 14-year-old allegedly threatened a customer before both girls ran from the store.

Police from Barwon Local Area Command responded to several Triple Zero (000) calls and searched the surrounding streets for the girls.

A short time later police located and arrested three teenage girls in Boston Street.

A search allegedly located the two knives, an iron bar and cash.

The three girls were arrested and taken to Moree Police Station.

Both the 17-year-old girl and 14-year-old girl were charged with armed robbery in company and were refused bail to appear before a children’s court, today (Wednesday 24 December 2014).

Inquiries are being made in regards to the involvement of the third girl.
