Police are appealing for information after a woman was robbed and assaulted in Auburn this afternoon.
About 1.40pm (Wednesday 31 December 2014), a 25-year-old woman was sitting across the road from an RSL club on Northumberland Road when a man approached her.
Police have been told the man grabbed the woman’s phone out of her hand. When the woman attempted to take the phone back, the man pushed her to the ground and ran from the scene towards Station Road.
The woman gave chase; however lost sight of the man. She attended Auburn Police Station and reported the incident.
Officers attached to Flemington Local Area Command commenced investigations. As their inquiries continue, police would like to speak to a man who may be able to assist them.
He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his early 20s, about 170-180cm tall, of medium build, with slightly tanned skin and curly short hair with blond streaks.
The man was seen wearing a baseball cap backwards, a dark-blue t-shirt, and dark blue shorts.
Anyone who has information or who may have witnessed the incident is urged to come forward and contact police via Crime Stoppers.
