Police are appealing for information after two people were assaulted at a licensed premises in Punchbowl this morning.
About 1am (Sunday 4 January 2015), officers from Bankstown Local Area Command were called to the club on Punchbowl Road after reports of an assault.
Investigators have been told a 38-year-old Fairfield West man was at the bar when he was allegedly assaulted by a group of other patrons.
During the altercation the man was allegedly punched and kicked several times and sustained injuries from a glass bottle.
A 34-year-old Brisbane woman, who was unknown to the man, attempted to intervene and was also allegedly assaulted by the group, who hit her over the head with a bottle.
Police were later contacted and the group left the location.
Both the man and woman were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics and were taken to Bankstown Hospital. Their injuries are not considered life threatening.
Inquiries into the matter are continuing and any witnesses, who have not yet spoken to police, are urged to come forward.
