A man will appear in court later this month charged over the glassing of another man in Punchbowl at the weekend.

About 1am (Sunday 4 January 2015), officers from Bankstown Local Area Command were called to the club on Punchbowl Road after reports of an assault.

Investigations revealed a 38-year-old Fairfield West man was at the bar when he was allegedly assaulted.

During the altercation the man was allegedly punched several times and sustained injuries from a glass bottle.

He was treated at Bankstown Hospital for a fractured eye socket, a fractured arm, and a wound above his eye.

About 4pm yesterday (Monday 5 January, 2015) a 37-year-old man was arrested at his Bass Hill residence. He was taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with causing grevious bodily harm to person with intent.

He was given bail to appear in Bankstown Local Court on the 28 January, 2015.
