Armed Crime Squad detectives are appealing for witnesses after an attempted armed robbery at a hotel in Roxburgh Park last night.

Investigators believe three men, one armed with a firearm, smashed their way through a side door at the hotel, which is located at the corner of Somerton and Pascoe Vale roads, about 11.25pm.

Once inside, they attempted to gain entry through a second door but were unsuccessful.

The trio then left empty-handed and were last seen driving out of the car park in an old model silver sedan.

There were number of patrons inside the hotel but no one was injured.

The three offenders were all wearing dark-coloured clothing and hooded tops.

Police are in the process of reviewing CCTV footage and are keen to speak to any witnesses who may have been in the car park at the time of the incident.
