Police investigating the theft of $100,000 worth of jewellery in Sydney’s south yesterday have released CCTV images.

About 3.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 10 March 2015), the owner of a wholesale jewellery company arrived at a shopping centre in Hurstville.

The 55-year-old man parked his car and took out a large suitcase containing jewellery items with a wholesale value of approximately $100,000.

These items included rings, pendants, bracelets and necklaces imported from Italy.

After meeting with a client, the man returned to the car park with the bag.

The man has told police a woman followed him from the shops into the car park. He also noticed a grey or silver-coloured Mitsubishi Magna double-parked on the same level as his own vehicle.

As the man walked towards his car, he heard yelling behind him. He turned and saw two men running towards him.

Police have been told one of the men struck his left arm with a closed fist, causing a small cut.

The 55-year-old dropped the bag, at which point the other men grabbed it and ran towards the Magna. They threw the bag into the vehicle and left the car park.

Both are described as being of Asian appearance, aged 25 to 30 years, and about 170cm tall.

Police from St George Local Area Command are investigating the incident and have released CCTV images. One image is of a woman who police believe can assist with their investigation. The other image is of a vehicle of interest.

The woman in the image is described as having olive skin with loosely-tied dark brown hair. She is shown wearing a black t-shirt, blue denim jeans, and a distinctive blue scarf.

The vehicle is described as a silver Mitsubishi Magna.
