Police are appealing for information after an armed robbery in the Lake Illawarra area.

Shortly after 4.30pm today (Wednesday 11 March 2015), a man entered a video-rental business on King Street, Warrawong.

The man approached the front counter and demanded the female shop attendant open the cash register.

The attendant told police the man produced an object she believed to be a weapon. She described it as having a handle and two protruding metal prongs.

The woman complied with the intruder’s request; he then fled the premises with an amount of cash.

He was last seen running north past a service station on King Street.

No-one was injured during the incident.

Police from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command are investigating the incident, and would like to speak with a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The man is described as having a thin build, aged in his early to mid 20s, with straggly brown hair and acne marks.

At the time of the incident, the man was reported to be wearing a black, long-sleeved hooded jumper, black shorts and white shoes.
