Armed Crime Squad detectives believe an armed robbery on Saturday evening is linked to a series of armed robberies committed at gaming venues in the north-western metropolitan area over the last three months.
The latest armed robbery occurred around 7pm on Saturday 7 March at a gaming venue in Roxburgh Park.
Investigators have been told two men entered the venue carrying a firearm and a large edged weapon and assaulted a security guard in the foyer.
The men then threatened patrons before stealing a quantity of money and leaving the premises in a white vehicle.
The security guard received serious facial injuries and was conveyed to the Northern Hospital for treatment.
Police will today release CCTV footage in relation to the armed robbery in the hope that someone may have information which may assist police.
