Police are investigating the attempted armed robbery of a convenience store in Gympie last night.

At about 10.15pm a man has entered the store on Hyne Street and walked up to the counter, produced a knife, threatened the shop attendant and made demands for money. The attendant has refused his request and activated an alarm. The man has then fled the store.

The staff member was not physically injured.

The man is described as being aged in his twenties, about 170cm tall, with a slim build and was wearing a grey long sleeve hoodie and board shorts with a blue cloth covering his face.
